FBI agent Clarice Starling, a specialist in serial killers, is fresh out of training and on the hunt for psychopathic murderer Buffalo Bill before his female body count rises. She adopts a high-risk strategy in visiting the imprisoned, dangerous and highly intelligent psychiatrist Dr Hannibal Lecter for his insight, but Lecter wants something in return from her that goes far beyond the acceptable. In Lecter and Starling author Thomas Harris created an unforgettable duo, and Hopkins and Foster perfectly capture this disturbing relationship on screen. Jonathan Demme (New York, 1944 - New York, 2017) debuted in cinema working with the producer Roger Corman, directing three films for New World Pictures between 1974 and 1976. In 1984, he directed Swing Shift for Warner Bros and that same year released his documentary about the Talking Heads, Stop Making Sense. In 1991, he won Oscars for Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and Best Actress with his film The Silence of the Lambs. Two years later, he won two more Oscars with Philadelphia. In 2004 he made a remake of The Manchurian Candidate by John Frankenheimer and in 2008 he directed Rachel Getting Married, which competed at the Venice Film Festival.
